Improves drainage: The structure of pumice allows excess water to drain while maintaining some water within its pores for future use.
Soil aeration : The porosity of pumice creates many tiny air pockets which deliver oxygen to the roots and to the microbes within the potting media.
Nutient storage and microbe housing : Pumice stores dissolved NPK nutrients and releases them when the environment requires them. Beneficial microbes and fungi will have a stable environment on and in the pumice to create healthy colonies.
Durability : Pumice does not degrade like perlite. It can be reused and there are simple methods to clean/sterilize it for reuse such as washing, baking, or a gentle bleach solution etc.
Specifics : This pumice type is white dacitic and is mined in the pacific north west. It is lighter and less dense than other pumice types. ( highly porous )
