This brick of compressed coconut coir is ideal for seedlings, containers, and hanging baskets. It can be used alone, blended with a potting soil mix, used in addition or as an alternative to Hydroton clay pellets (or other hydroponic media like peat moss, Rockwool, perlite) and as an amendment, top dressing or mulch for existing gardens, compost bins, and worm bins.
Each compressed coir brick hydrates quickly with 2-3L of water and expands to fill 9L (0.3 cu ft) of space. It comes wrapped in an easy to store package to minimize dust and keep things neat and organized. It is naturally disease free, weed free, dirt-free, and free from foreign materials and weed seeds.
Totally biodegradable, 100% natural, and made from renewable resources. It does not contribute to the draining of ecologically sensitive peat bogs. Coir is a natural by-product of coconut harvesting and consists of the coarse fibers extracted from the husk on the outer shell of a coconut. It does not clump, will not degrade as quickly as peat moss, and can be used for multiple growing cycles.
Made of compressed low sodium coconut coir. It is clean, lightweight and easy to use and produces seedlings with stronger, more fibrous roots. It retains more air and moisture (holds up to 10x its weight in water) and improves the drainage compared to other growing media.
When used in sandy soil, coir helps to keep nutrients and moisture close to the plant roots. When used in clay soils, coir helps to break up hard-packed earth and move nutrients and moisture through the soil. Soak for at least 1 hour before using it to allow the coir to expand and soak up the water. Use warm or hot water for faster results
